1719 Museum
Visit the 1719 Museum — Discover the histories of early Mennonite immigrants, Indigenous people, and how their lives were interconnected.
In the early 1700’s the residents living in the backwoods of Chester County complained that “thieves, vagabonds, and ill people” had infested the rural areas of what is now Lancaster County. Not wanting to be associated with them they petitioned for the creation of a new county and in 1729 Lancaster County was formed. Our partners aspire to bring that story to those who visit and have been doing so for decades.
