Opening in 2015: New Stage Productions in the New Year

With the opening of a new year come many new experiences and things to do–especially in the Lancaster County area! This year, local theaters are going all out with their new shows–familiar titles like And Then There Were None  and The Great Gatsby will be coming to stages across the region early this year. If you enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance of an evening out at the theater, for small local productions or the incredible music and effects of a well-known attraction like Sight and Sound, be sure to check out local theater billings and make the performing arts a part of your stay in Lancaster County.

The Fulton Theatre:

  • Jan. 27 to Feb. 15, Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Whether you prefer to visit the Fulton once a decade or purchase season passes, don’t miss this show. The story of ten people, mysteriously killed off one by one, is called an “excellent whodunit” and the “the story that launched [Christie’s] career.” Following several other excellent productions of plays based on Christie’s work, notably Mousetrap  and The Unexpected Guest, And Then There Were None is one that we’ve been waiting to see on this stage.
  • Mar. 10 to Apr. 4, Mel Brooks’ The Producers. A pair of Broadway con artists come up with a sure-fire way to make a fortune overnight: produce a play that’s sure to flop! The only problem? The play within the play turns out to be a hit, just like The Producers!

Sight & Sound:

  • Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre, Strasburg PA
Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre, Strasburg PA

May 22 to Oct. 17, Joseph. Returning to the Lancaster location of Sight and Sound this year? The beloved story of Joseph, a son sold into slavery due to his brothers’ jealousy only to be lifted up by God to save his people. The amazing dream sequences find Joseph flying high above the audience, and the awe-inspiring sets–including the spectacular Egyptian palace–put the audience in the middle of a biblical epic that can’t help but be inspiring.

Hershey Theatre:

  • Apr. 7, The Great Gatsby. A one-day performance by one of the U.S.’s premier touring companies brings to life a classic tale told by a master storyteller. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s notorious Jay Gatsby and dangerous yet alluring Daisy Buchanan are brought to life on the stage, giving greater insight into the story and the genius behind it.

If you can’t come just for the day, come and stay with one of the quality inns of the Lancaster County Bed and Breakfast Inns Association. These premier Lancaster County bed and breakfast inns have ideal locations near many of the local theaters, and the innkeepers are happy to offer suggestions, directions, and other insider information during your stay!
